See what happens when a couple of tech nerds get a Jeep and a sticker machine? Well, ok, it’s a bit more complicated than that. We’ve been offroading and exploring the outdoors in Jeeps for some time. Over the years we’ve been through a number of different Jeeps. One day we decided, what if we made this a bigger part of our life? Why not take Debbie’s skills with business and Jesse’s skills in engineering and make something that was our own?
Moving up from that, why not make some things and in the process show others how to make them for themselves? There are a lot of things that can be made with basic tools for a lot less money than you can buy them for, why not show people this? And why not have some fun doing it?
Jesse is a software engineer who has had many different Jeeps (and one Bronco) over the years. Right now he works for a megacorporation working on some megasoftware that everyone uses.
Debbie is an IT tech working for a megacellphone company and has also had a large number of Jeeps over the years.
Since that chance meeting at the merry-go-round in 5th grade, life has not been the same.
Bad Gecko Offroad is run out of our garage. It’s a fairly good sized two car detached garage filled mostly with Christmas decorations, but some space has been carved out for making parts and videos. Almost always a mess, but does have a couple of nice tools.
This is also how and where the majority of our adventures start.
Speaking of adventure, in 2020 we were course marshals on the Winter Alcan5000. If you aren’t familiar, you should check it out. This was in winter and when taking this picture it was a balmy -17F.
In 2022 we took part in the Alcan5000 Rally again as course marshals. From Kirkland, WA to Dawson City, Yukon Territory. Then across to Yellow Knife, Northwest Territories.
If you aren’t familiar with Northern Canada and Northern Alaska highways, they aren’t paved. Out of the 5000 miles covered, a good 2/3 of that was on dirt and mud. Fuel stops can be several hundred miles apart and the stations may or may not have fuel.
Truely an adventure!
